Hi, my name is Miguel Baúto and I'm finishing my Master's Degree in Information Systems and Computer Engineering - Major in Distributed Systems and Minor in Software Engineering - at Instituto Superior Técnico (Campus Alameda), Portugal.

I'm doing my master thesis in the Distributed Systems Group at INESC-ID, under the supervision of Prof. Paulo Ferreira.

My thesis title is RoadHead - enhanced vision for traffic management. It consists in developing an application that offers the users (car drivers) a broader vision of the traffic conditions. The driver is informed in a intuitive and visual manner about the traffic conditions that occur many meters ahead of the position where he is, allowing him to make decisions about the route, speed, etc.. This increased visibility helps him to minimize congestion and accidents. The system will use motion sensors placed along the road in order to detect traffic intensity as well as the speed of the vehicles.
